The 6th International Congress of the World Society Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan - the Foundation of a New Renaissance will take place in Uzbekistan
The event is organized by the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan with the support of over 10 international and 5 national organizations. The general sponsor and organizer of the congress is the Eriell Group company.
The key event of the congress will be the presentation of 10 new volumes of book-albums from the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections series (volumes 51-60). Therefore, the collection of illustrated books, worked on by over 350 scholars from more than 25 countries, 100 libraries and museums with a worldwide reputation, has already reached 60 volumes.
In addition, the presentation of a unique edition of an ancient manuscript is planned. One of the leading publishing houses in Europe, Mueller & Schindler, will show a facsimile of a rarest manuscript created following an order from the outstanding son of the Uzbek land, astronomer Mirzo Ulugbek. The historical value and authenticity of this rare ancient manuscript, kept in the National Library of France, is beyond doubt.
Three round tables dedicated to topics such as Heritage Uniting Peoples: Central Asia and Azerbaijan, New Areas of Activity of the World Society: Plans and Prospects and National Museums and Collections in the Focus of the World Society will become bright moments of the congress.
The congress will also include a presentation of two unique books about the art of Uzbekistan. These are gift editions of On the Sides of the Aral Sea and the Amu. The Art of the Karakalpaks and Ornament: Aesthetics, Magic, Meaning.
On July 22, the international research conference Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the Focus of Modern Study will be held at the Palace of Youth Creativity in Samarkand.
The grand opening of the 6th International Congress Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan — the Foundation of a New Renaissance will take place on July 23.
Over 100 reports from famous orientalists from more than 35 countries devoted to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan and Central Asian countries will be presented during the two days.
More than 250 world-renowned orientalists will take part in the congress, including 33 directors of famous international museums, 15 directors of national museums, 6 representatives of international organizations, over 15 academicians, more than 20 professors and more than 20 doctors of sciences.
"The project Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in World Collections can be rightly called one of the bright results of the policy of New Uzbekistan, the reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the field of culture. According to the Development Strategy of Uzbekistan, since 2016, the issue of studying, preserving and popularizing the cultural legacy of Uzbekistan has been raised to the rank of state policy, and this approach, attention from the President and the Government, yield results, which are already recognized by the whole world. The congress participants have already received dozens of appeals and welcoming words.
So, the Executive Director of the Islamic Heritage Fund Al-Furqan, Sali Shahsavari, expressed confidence that the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan project will bring countries and peoples closer.
"The project to search and preserve Uzbekistan's heritage around the world is a wonderful way to bring hundreds of countries closer together. Uzbekistan sets an example of how to protect national cultural legacy to all countries," Sali Shahsavari said.

And the World Society and the Cultural Legacy project undertakes a huge share of the work in this direction. This has already been reflected in many museums and libraries around the world, and it is very valuable," said Frederick Starr, Chairman and Expert at the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute.
"Russian libraries appreciate the monuments of book culture from Uzbekistan kept in their collections; we are aware of their impact on Russian culture and therefore consider it our duty to take part in the important work on the collection and study of these monuments, which is carried out by the World Society and the results of which will be presented at the 6th International Congress," said Mikhail Afanasyev, President of the Russian Library Association, Director of the State Public Historical Library of Russia.
