HOW TO BECOME A FRIEND OF THE WORLD SOCIETY?

The gravestone as a memory of the "holder of fatwas" Al-Bukhari.

The gravestone found in the village of Butakara is an important historical artifact, dating back to the year 1323. It features an inscription that tells about Sayyid Hasan ibn Mahmud ibn Muhammad al-Bukhari. He is described as an outstanding imam, scholar, and ascetic who made significant contributions to Islamic jurisprudence and was known for his ability to differentiate and classify various currents within Islam.

The text emphasizes his piety, intellectual achievements, and contributions to society. The mention of him being a "holder of fatwas" and the "sword of Truth and Religion" attests to his authority in religious matters. It also notes his affiliation with the Yasin family and his connection to the last prophet Muhammad.

According to the gravestone, Sayyid Hasan passed away at the age of 75 on the night of Saturday, the nineteenth day of Safar in the year 723 AH (after Hijra). The text concludes with a blessing for his passing, highlighting the respect and reverence for his memory.

This artifact not only represents a point of interest for studying Islamic culture and jurisprudence of that time but also serves as an example of calligraphic art and burial traditions in medieval Islam.
