The rarest treasures of the National Library of Uzbekistan

One of the rare works kept in the Fund of Unique and Highly Valuable Publications is the manuscript Al akhkomus sultaniya val viloyatud diniya (Laws of state administration) by Abul Hasan Ali bin Muhammad al Movardi. It belongs to the period of Abbasid caliphs.

One of the ancient multilingual dictionaries Muqaddimat-ul-adab (Introduction to Literature) by Makhmud al-Zamakhshariy (1075 – 1144) is also among the rarities as it is dated 701/1302. Another manuscript, Sharh mulahhas fil hayya, is a commentary made by Musa bin Mahmud Qāḍī Zāda al-Rūmī to the book Mulahhas fil hayya by Mahmud Chagminiy, a famous medieval astronomer. The book was one of the important textbooks on astronomy in higher educational institutions of the medieval East. It was studied by founders of medieval Samarkand astronomical school and influenced the creation of other major treatises on astronomy.
