Traditions of Uzbekistan: A Key Section in the Center for Islamic Civilization

The VIII International Congress "The Heritage of Great Ancestors - the Foundation of the Third Renaissance," currently taking place in Samarkand, has become a platform for presentations by local and foreign scientists and experts in the field of studying, preserving, and popularizing Uzbekistan's cultural heritage.

The main theme of the Congress is discussing the content of the museums of the Center for Islamic Civilization and Imam al-Bukhari. The decision on this was made in July of this year at the "The Heritage of Great Ancestors - the Foundation of the Third Renaissance" forum organized by the Center for Islamic Civilization with the participation of 600 scientists from all over the world.

Foreign designers presented their projects and vision of the Center for Islamic Civilization at the plenary sessions. The scientists themselves presented concepts for exhibitions for the museums of the Center and Imam al-Bukhari.

National experts and specialists also presented joint projects for the exhibitions of the Center for Islamic Civilization and the innovative Imam al-Bukhari Museum.

The Center for Islamic Civilization will have a special section dedicated to "Traditions." This section was dedicated to the presentation "National Traditions and Rituals of Public Life in Uzbekistan," presented by Vasilia Fayzieva, Director of the State Museum of Arts.  She was appointed curator, head of the scientific and creative group for this section, according to a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.

The "Traditions" section exhibition will occupy a total area of 589.3 square meters and will be divided into the following sectors: "Life of Society," "Traditions and Customs," and "National Performing Arts."

It will tell about the life of the mahalla, traditional national residences, folk games, and sports.

The exhibition will feature decorative panels that adorn the walls of homes, created in the style of wood carving and ganch art, lattices made in the style of wood carving, yurt decorations, suzane, kyorak (patchwork), and other items of decorative and applied art.

At the center of the exhibition section will be a traditional Uzbek house and yurt placed side by side, showcasing the national housing of the region.

Visitors will see exhibits related to folk games and sports: large-format graphic photographs depicting kurash, martial arts,  kupkari, and children's sports games.

The photo collage on the wall will feature photographs of the first representatives of theater, circus, cinema, and musical art, famous folk actors and actresses, folk singers, outstanding dancers, and circus artists. This photo collage will be placed in a space that will allow it to be expanded in the future.

Visitors will be able to take a photo of any art master's portrait on their mobile phones, or with the help of QR codes installed on the photographs, the portrait will come to life, and its owner will tell about his or her work. For the convenience of visitors, it is advisable to install a sound shower in this sector.

On the same day, in parallel with the work of scientists, a TURKSOY forum was held, involving representatives of the film industry from Turkic-speaking countries, and a presentation of films took place.
