The fact that the conference was held in Spain - the birthplace of the famous Spanish ambassador and chronicler Ruy González de Clavijo, who visited Samarkand and left invaluable information about the reign of Amir Temur, increased its significance. Clavijo's works are rightfully among the most important sources on the history of Timur and the Timurid era. Thus, the event became a symbol of the centuries-old international dialogue between the East and the West.
