On February 5, the famous historian, local historian, journalist, and writer Boris Anatolyevich Golender passed away at the age of 78.

Boris Golender was born in 1947 in Tashkent. He graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of Tashkent State University. He has written more than 100 books and articles on the history and culture of Uzbekistan, as well as tourist guides. For a long time, he worked at the State Museum of Sergei Yesenin in Tashkent.
According to Gazeta.uz, the book "My Gentlemen of Tashkent" ("Мои господа ташкентси"), published in 2007, became a valuable source of information about Tashkent and its inhabitants - from sheikhs and generals to merchants and actors. For his services in preserving cultural memory, he was called the "Guardian of Old Tashkent." Golander completed his tenth book - "Ulfat: Patterns of Uzbekistan" - a few months ago.
