Is the famous tower on the island of Ibiza in Spain named after Ibn Sina?

The name and scientific legacy of the great scholar Abu Ali Ibn Sina have been widely known in both the East and the West for more than a thousand years. The ancient tower on the Spanish island of Ibiza is one of the intriguing mentions associated with the name of this outstanding physician. In the 14th century, the Castilian ambassador Ruy González de Clavijo, who visited the court of Amir Timur, wrote in his diary that the tower in the city of Ibiza was named after Ibn Sina.

The tower located on the island of Ibiza stands at the city's highest point near the sea and includes interior chambers. This fact confirms that Ibn Sina holds a significant place not only in Eastern but also in Western culture. His works have been translated into Latin since the 12th century and gained widespread recognition in Europe. Notably, the Italian philosopher Gerard of Cremona translated his Canon of Medicine, and the famous writer Dante Alighieri mentioned him in his Divine Comedy.

Today, one of the central streets in the city of Ibiza is named after Ibn Sina. The tall fortress tower has been preserved as one of the important historical landmarks of the island. However, it is possible that the tower mentioned by Clavijo was later renamed or that particular tower has not survived to the present day. So far, there is no exact information on this matter.
